How to Enable Live Chat for Your Event
If you are setting up a new event, select the radio button next to 'Enable Text-Chat?' before clicking the Next button.
If you would like to enable live chat for an existing event, click on Scheduled Events > the title of your event > Event Title, Slides, Chat, & Template. On that page select the 'Yes' radio button next to 'Enable Text-Chat?', and then press the Save Changes button.
Using Chat as a Host
To access the chat for a live event click Conference Line > Conference Line Control Panel > Chat tab OR Scheduled Events > Control Panel > Chat tab. There you'll see a Live Chat login field during the live call. To login to the chat interface, input your name in the field with 'Your Name' and then click the 'Start Chat' button or hit enter on the keyboard.
Once logged in, you are connected and can begin chatting with your audience. As the host you also have the ability to allow only Hosts to post or to allow guest post's as well. The default setting is for everyone to be able to chat but if you would like to change that setting you can only do so while the event is in progress.
Note: Our system has events begin 15 minutes before the scheduled start time so that guests can connect to the line, you can make the changes to the chat settings at that time.
Using Chat as a Guest
When attendees arrive at your event page it will have the same appearance as normal, with the addition of a chat box on the page. Depending on the size of the screen resolution the participant may need to scroll down to see the chat box.
To join the chat as a guest input your name in the in the field that says 'Your Name' then click 'Start Chat' or press the Enter key on your keyboard.
Note: You cannot leave the name field blank and participate in the chat but you do not have to join the chat to see the messages.
Once you have entered your name and started the chat you enter your messages in the field below the chat box and click 'Send Message' or press the Enter key on your keyboard.
Live Chat Transcript
As the host you always have access to the chat transcript in your Control Panel's Chat tab but it is not shown on the replay page by default. If you would like to have it shown on the replay page you can enable that in the Replay Page Settings. To get there click Scheduled Events > the title of the event > Customize Replay Page. Once there if you have a recording in place and had a chat during the live event you will have the option to show the chat transcript on the replay page as well.
Host Chat Transcript (Always available in the Control Panel for the event)
To enable the chat transcript on the replay page click Scheduled Events > the title of the event > Customize Replay Page. Once there, if you have a recording in place and had a chat during the live event you will have the option to 'Show Text Chat?'.
